Bio

The Throwbacks are guitar and vocal duo, Rob James (guitar) and Graeme Druce (guitar & vocals) that have got together through their love of blues and roots music.

Rob James , legendary Sydney guitarist, has worked in many bands and orchestras supporting both local and international artists and played in all types of venues – pubs, clubs, restaurants, theatres and concert halls.

Graeme Druce has worked for many years in the DoggnIt Blues Duo, playing in festivals up and down the east coast plus was a semi finalist at 2013 International Blues festival in Memphis and now plays in the well loved Sydney blues band 12 Bar Dudes.

They have now teamed up to play a mixture of jazz and blues, bringing an original Australian flavour to their blues and jazz repertoire making it accessible to everyone.
They have a broad range that includes blues standards plus some well crafted originals including The Hungry Mile ( song about depression era Sydney), Dead River Blues and Red White & Blue (tribute to Bukka White).

The Canberra Blues Society called their debut album No Second Chance ,” a great collection of originals with the addition of a few tasteful covers. The originals have a distinctly Australian flavour and a gentle ambience that mostly occupies the space between jazz and blues. Graeme is a really good singer and accompanist and Rob is a talented and creative guitarist.”
